James 3:5-6

James 3:5-6 King James Version (KJV)
⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

⁵ It is the same with the tongue. It is a small part of the body, but it brags about doing great things.
A big forest fire can be started with only a little flame. ⁶ And the tongue is like a fire. It is a whole world of evil among the parts of our bodies. The tongue spreads its evil through the whole body. It starts a fire that influences all of life. The tongue gets this fire from hell.

5-6 The tongue is small but can such trouble but also give blessing. The tongue can boast but should give praise to the Lord. We can use the tongue to encourage or tear down. The tongue an start problems that just move beyond our control and sometimes it don’t take long.

No argument there, Clark!

It's too easy to sin with speech.  But then, speech reflects what we are thinking and it's the THINKING that needs adjusting (confessing if sin).

It's a moment by moment challenge to ride heard on our thoughts and not give the bad ones action.

When we fail, thank the Lord for 1 John 1:9 ~ we recognize the sin, confess it to Him and He restores us to fellowship.  It is a continual battle while we're here on this earth.
