Interesting article over at Prophecy in the News, by Gary Stearman, regarding Pentecost ~ how it fits into the Feasts of the Lord, its significance as a date marker for the change of dispensations and of course, our blessed hope.

Enjoy!

Thanks JH. Did not know this.

given the fact that Pentecost is called “the festival without a date.” In reality, its appearance, as originally calculated by the new moon, the Passover and a seven-week countdown, is quite flexible.

Stearman ~ The Pentecost Prophecy Empty Re: Stearman ~ The Pentecost Prophecy

I am currently reading with the Karaite's understanding of the Pentecost festival. And became aware many years ago, now, that even the "New Years Day' is very much in a modern sense a 'day without a fixed date'.
The Karaite's have for centuries monthly observed the sighting of the first visible new crescent Moon from around the environs of Jerusalem, or Cairo, or in the Crimea. They see, to understand what Isaiah had said to the people of his time:

(Isa 47:13 KJV) Thou [O daughter of the Chaldeans] art wearied in the multitude of thy [O daughter of the Chaldeans] counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.

Prognosticating is what we now in Science call Calculation, that is predictions based on Calculations of the 'magical formulea' of Scientific Mathematics.

This is one reason why Retro-Astromony is not very inviting, nor the pre-calculated Calendar making. The heavens above in the Celestial realms is completely under God's hands and power. HE will change them as HE will see fit and to HIS good pleasure.

For this reason the Karaites prefer to do the near Dusk sky gazing to actually see with their eyes (and not digital cams) when the first time the new crescent Moon is observable at their locations.

According to these Karaites observations the Pentecost Festival would start on Dusk of Saturday May 18th and extend to Dusk of Sunday May 19th.

They are expecting the new crescent Moon to be first visiable on Dusk of Friday May 10th, or Dusk of Saturday May 11th.

The Karaite brand of Judaism has much to commend it. I've often wondered if the scales fall off more readily?
